Kutler and Paige

Two weeks ago I had the experience of a lifetime.  I not only had my second son but I had it on the same day that my sister, Camille, had her third daughter.  Kutler was born two weeks early and Paige was born a week early via scheduled c-section.  For months we joked about having our babies on the same day and being in the hospital together but never dreamed it would come true.  Kutler was determined to come before Paige though.  I went into labor around 2:30 in the morning and had him by 5:22.  It was so fun to be in the hospital with my sister and share that experience with her.  The nurses all had a blast with it too.  They couldn't believe that luck turned out the way it did. There is no doubt in my mind that had Matt not been home that night Kutler would have been born at home.  I was very blessed to have him there and him telling me that we need to get to the hospital.  We took Hayzen to our wonderful neighbors house where he behaved very well.
It was a big surprise to have him come so early.  I had an appointment the day before and I was dilated to a 2 1/2 so they scheduled me for an induction that next Wednesday.  I hadn't had any contractions that day but that night I walked about a mile leading Hayzen around on Fidget while Matt trained on Sister.  I went about my normal routine and had to wake up to pee at 2:30.  I started having contractions then and they were about 10 minutes apart.  I tried to sleep but was not successful so I tried to get up and do something.  At about 3:30 the contractions were about 2 minutes apart so Matt said he needed to shower and get ready to go.  With the way Hayzen came I figured I had plenty of time.  My contractions got worse as we drove to the hospital.  By the time we got there at about 4 I was dilated to an 8 1/2 and heard the most dreadful words I've ever heard, "there is no time for an epidural."  I was devastated!  I never figured that I would be someone who would have to endure a natural birth.  With the help of Matt's hand and much concentrating on breathing I was able to handle the contractions pretty well, if I do say so myself.  Once the doctor broke my water it wasn't 10 minutes later that Kutler was out.  I only had to push through 2 contractions but tore very badly.  They said it was almost a #4 tear which is the worst #.  Surprisingly though I have recovered a lot quicker than I did with Hayzen.  I was able to get up and around a lot quicker.
When I was in labor I asked the nurses if I could choose who I roomed with and they just looked at me funny and said no.  Then Matt said that Camille was having a c-section that morning and they got all excited and said, "sure. Of course we can put you together."  They even helped us plan a surprise for Camille.  Everyone but her knew that I had had Kutler.  So the nurses got her situated in the room and everything and told her, "yeah, I think you'll like your roommate.  She seems nice and I think you'll get along really well."  Camille was not excited because she didn't want to share a room with anyone so when I walked in she could not believe it.  She was in shock and we both started to cry.  It was very touching.  The nurses couldn't wait to see her face.  It was fun for all of us.
So these are their newborn pictures and I'm amazed at how well the babies did and how cute they turned out.  Of course we had to do some with Paige on her daddy's navy uniform and Kutler with his daddy's cowboy hat and spurs.  I love to personalize baby photos and these couldn't have turned out better.  The ones of Kutler and me were taken by my mother.

Oh Linds, he's perfect! I can't wait to see him! You're awesome for going all natural. I'm sorry you weren't able to get your epidural, but just proves you're one tough woman :)
